GEOTEXTILE
Geotextile
is defined as a product of the textile industry characterized by
physical, mechanical and hidraulic properties that make it suitable for
use in works of civil engineering,in contact with the ground.
Non woven
fabrics are products consisting of artificial bonded toghether securely
by a mechanical process called needling. They are absolutely free of
chemical bonding agents and therefore can be considered non-toxic and non
–polluting.
The
field of application of geotextiles are those related to geothecnical
engineering and, more in general, all sector of civil engineering.
The
choice of material depends on different technical and economic factors
and it would be an error to classify them on the basis of the individual
use.
The
main functions of a geotextile are:
1. hydraulic functions: drainage and filtering.
2.
mechanical functions:
separation, reinforcement and protection.
Characteristics
of GEOTEXTILE
HYDRAULIC
FUNCTIONS:
The
drainage function of a geotextile depends on its longitudinal
permeability. The amount of water that can be trasmitted by a single
drain depends on the hydraulic transmissivity of the geotextile and in
this case,by their innate nature, all mechanically needled
nonwovens, since they are microperforated, succeed in performing this
function extremely well.
The
capacity of a geotextile in nonwoven fabric to act as a filter depends on
the coefficient of normal permeability and on the filtering diameter. In
general, a filter has to satisfy both the following conditions: let water
pass (criterion of permeability), hold solid particles (criterion of
retention).
MECHANICAL
FUNCTIONS:
The
function of a geotextile as a separating (or anti-contaminating) layer depends
mainly on its hydraulic properties,on its mechanical properties
(resistance to puching, traction, laceration and deformity to rupture due
to traction and punching)
A
separating element has to hold the finer particles of soil in contact.
With it and has to have sufficient capacity to withstand the stresses
induced and the loads applied. The criteria of resistance assess the
different types of actions that the geotextile must resist, in particular
the pressure applied by finer soil on a vacuum; The punching by isolated
pebbles can lead to tearing and laceration of the geotextile by effect of
local concentrations of force on surface of geotextile.
The
function of a geotextile as reinforcement come into play whenever a work
on the ground, made with meterials that are difficult to compress or
are,in some way, deformable,is "armored" with layers of
geotextile so as to enjoy the advantage of their resistance to traction
and the friction features of the getextile. Sheets of geotextiles can
also be used to protect bituminous sheaths and thermoplastic membranes
laid either horizontally or vertically, when water-proofing tunnels, and in
the construction of walles against earth, hanging garden, inverted
roofs, controlled dumps, lagoon areas and storage areas for pollutants. In
some cases,by alternating sheetts of geotextiles with contiguous
thermoplastinc sheaths of a different nature,it is possible to prevent
their direct conctac from giving rise to actions of reciprocal chemical
reaction. When these are subject to the action of loads of material with
a greater surface hardness than of membrane, laying a sheet of adequate
thickness will prevent, any damage.
TESSILDRAIN
geotextile
Tessilveneta
produces articles in nonwoven fabrics for the construction industry. Tessildrain,
a geotextile produced by Tessilveneta, is a nonwoven fabric made of
mechanically needled sintetych fibres with technical features that
include high mechanical, chemical and biological resistance, as well as
permeability to water. It can also be considered rot-proof.
The
Tessildrain line of products is composed mainly of two groups or
families, according to the type of fibres used that,in any case, are always
and only monocomponent. Thus we have Tessildrain Polypropylene and
Tessildrain Polyester.
Tessildrain
Polyester comes in two versions:
a.
Type NTB and NTC, with
polyester ricyclated and rigeneration, in withe color or multicolor.
Possibility gr/mq 150 to gr/mq 1000.
b.
Type FC, with only vergin
fibres of polyester. Only withe color, with gr/mq 150 to gr/mq 400.
Tessildrain
Polypropilen comes in three versions:
a.
Type FC, with only vergin
fibres of polypropilen, hevy duty, only with color. Possibility gr/mq 140 to
gr/mq 500
b.
Type NTB and NTC, with
polypropilen ricyclated and rigeneration, in withe color or multicolor. Possibility gr/mq 150 to
gr/mq 1000.
c.
Type Calander, with mix of
polypropilen fibres, with termich applications, only withe color. Possibility gr/mq 100 to
gr/mq 400.
All
the products can be supplied in rolls with maximum width of 5 m. and
submultliples,with length of 25, 50, 100 and 250 lm.
